About Hong Kong (and AIESEC in Hong Kong)

60's
AIESEC in HONG KONG was introduced in 1967. With the establishment of the first LC in the University of Hong Kong, our exchange program began up till now.
Our Establishment
In 1967, AIESEC was first introduced in the University of Hong Kong by Professor Hsia of the School of Economics. An initial local committee was established at the University of Hong Kong. AIESEC in Hong Kong acquired full member status at the Istanbul International Congress after one-year period of probationary membership.
Development
AIESEC initially started with Economics Society of the University of Hong Kong. With the energetic and ingenious youth, AIESEC gradually augmented and various programmes were implemented.
Exchange Program
By the time, our core program - International Traineeships Exchange Program(ITEP) was commenced in 1968. It carried out a 'Reciprocal Exchange' among AIESEC countries of students interested in overseas training and international exposure.
70's
The 70's was the budding stage of our association. with the reinforcement of our second LC, apart from operating our exchange program, we hosted international meeting and organized study tour to further enhance our international exposure.
Second Local Committee
In 1970, another LC was established at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
First Asian Congress
In 1974, AIESEC in HONG KONG hosted the first Asian Congress with delegates from Australia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, International AIESEC Secretariat, Asian Regional Coordinator and Hong Kong.
Study Tour
The first out-town study tour, headed by Professor Hsia was dispatched from Hong Kong to Japan in August 1976.
